Introduction

Date: October 2025

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has released a Revised Calibration Protocol for Online Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (OCEMS), effective July 2025. This updated guideline strengthens the requirements for calibration, performance verification, and quality assurance of monitoring equipment installed across various industries for continuous emission tracking.

Key Highlights of the Revised CPCB OCEMS Protocol

The revised protocol introduces the following key compliance requirements:

  • Quarterly calibration for gaseous emission analyzers
  • Annual performance testing by accredited laboratories
  • Quarterly calibration checks for PM (particulate matter) monitoring systems
  • Annual performance testing for PM-CEMS under operational conditions

The new framework aims to enhance transparency and accuracy in industrial emission data reporting—supporting India’s commitment to cleaner air and sustainable operations.

As part of this regulatory advancement, industries are advised to ensure timely compliance by partnering with ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited laboratories capable of performing the required calibration and testing activities.

TCQA Labs Pvt. Ltd., India’s specialised and fully-equipped facility for OCEMS performance and calibration testing, stands ready to support industries in achieving compliance under this revised CPCB protocol. With advanced infrastructure and experienced technical experts, TCQA Labs conducts calibration and verification as per the latest CPCB guidelines, ensuring credible, traceable, and regulator-accepted results.
